A young boy looked at paintings made inside a prison and said he couldn’t believe prisoners made them. He’d already learned what he was supposed to think.
What a beautiful recap of this summer's art show and a powerful mini-story in there with what that young boy at the closing event observed. ("Wow! I can't believe this came from people in prison.") And your response and noticing our use of "Wow!," which is rarely said when one's expectations are met.
Thanks! And I am not saying the idea of wow is a bad thing. It's more about where it comes from. "Wow, I can't believer prisoners painted these." versus "Wow, these are beautiful." I feel like the former comes from expectations and the later comes from awe.
